Pixelate a Logo
For logos, the main objective is shape readability. Use hard edges, fewer colors, and test at target display size.
Recommended settings
- Algorithm: Nearest (clean edges for marks and symbols)
- Pixel size: 10-14 for icon and badge style logos
- Max colors: usually 4-12 for strong contrast
Case Snapshot
Input: colorful SaaS logo with thin text.
Target: social icon + website corner mark.
Working setup: remove text layer, Nearest, pixel size 12, maxColors 8.
Result: icon remains recognizable even in 32px display.
Parameter recipes
| Use case | Settings |
|---|---|
| Website mark | Nearest, pixel size 10-12, maxColors 8-12 |
| Minimal icon style | Nearest, grayscale palette, pixel size 12-14 |
| Retro colorful mark | Nearest, CGA/PICO-8 palette, pixel size 10-12 |
Troubleshooting
- Logo looks blurry: switch to Nearest and avoid dithering.
- Text becomes unreadable: remove text before conversion and keep only symbol.
- Colors look muddy: reduce maxColors and increase contrast.
